In 1935, an engineer and machine technician at Gentofte Hospital saw a need to develop a robust and maintenance-free fitting that could withstand heavy pressure. Called the SP tap, the fitting became renowned for its thermostatic valve. Since then, the SP has been called both the ‘industrial fitting’ and the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of taps with its classical design, elegant form and near-indestructible quality. It has been used worldwide for decades for everything from hospitals to embassies to private homes. The SP fitting is available in two different handles: the patented stirrup handle and the medical tap handle. Due to the design's obvious hygienic benefits, the tap fitting is primarily used in hospital and institutional establishments.
